Drinking and brewing
Dec. 6th, 2018 09:58 pmI have been having a brewing interest the last week or so. I made several batches of fairly good beer, and several of fairly good wine, followed by a couple of abject failures, that fed into my losing interest. I gave away all the beer brewing stuff but kept enough to be able to do some wine on the side. Right now I am enchanted that I can throw a few things together and make something drinkable and alcoholic.
So I have a couple of gallon jugs of what seems like they will be deeply boring cider (but they're only a week or so old, and they need to be left alone for a while) bubbling in the kitchen. And I am playing Oh Look, Another Unlabeled Bottle I Found in the Basement. The last two have been respectable hard cider with a tinge of burning rubber, very suitable for watching hockey.
Fear of incoming visitor has impelled me to try to tidy up, so my hands are dry from washing dishes. But I found a place to put the air pump (yeasties like oxygen) and the airlocks and plugs and so forth, so I'm pleased to have them settled. Hobbies take up room.
